Palin Charged Alaska for Daughters’ Trips
Wow! I wish my mom held an executive office, then I’d be able to fly all over the country on YOUR dime! As it is, my mother is a secretary at Boeing and I’m still waiting on that Disneyland trip she promised me and my brothers 17 years ago. However, Bristol, Willow and Piper Palin are lucky enough to have their mother pull money out of a state budget so they can accompany mommy dearest wherever she may go.
As Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin charged the state over $20,000 for her children to travel with her, including to events where they weren’t invited. And when Alaska reporters asked for the records? Well, the governor ordered the already filed expense reports be amended to account for her daughters tagging along, adding the phrases “First Family attending” or “First Family invited.”
Some of the organizers of events where Palin brought her children say they were surprised when her children showed up uninvited or said they agreed to a request from the governor to allow the children to attend. Such is the case in October 2007 when Alaska’s taxpayers shelled out nearly $1,400 on plane tickets for Palin and daughter Bristol to attend a women’s leadership conference in New York. The state was also charged over $700 a night for the two to stay 4 nights in the Essex House hotel; the event organizer said Palin asked if her daughter could attend.
