Lipstick on a pig? Well…
“You know the difference between a hocky mom and pit bull?” asked Alaska Governor and Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. “Lipstick.”
“You can put lipstick on a pig,” said Illinois Senator and Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama. “But it’s still a pig.”
That’s how the McCain camp wants you to hear the two comments. Juxtaposed, them sound like fightin’ words from Obama, but the fact is, they had nothing to do with each other.
Barack Obama was referring to Republican candidate John McCain’s claim that he seeks to bring change to Washington as well, even though he agrees with President Bush on nearly everything. But McCain spokesman, Brian Rogers, is convinced he was referring to Palin and says the comments were “disrespectful and offensive.”
Rogers also said there is a “big difference” between Obama’s comments and one McCain himself made in Iowa last October when he compared Hillary Clinton’s healthcare plan to one she touted in 1993 saying, “I think they put some lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig.”
Rogers says there is a “big difference” between the two because McCain was referring to a policy proposal and Obama was referring to Palin. That’s funny, because not once did Obama mention Palin’s name or even hint at her, he was in fact referring to McCain’s platform. But if the McCain camp wants to take it that way it’s understandable, she does sort of look like a sow wearing makeup.
